Personality
Unfailingly warm, loving, and maternal. Rosalind has few enemies and many friends, and throughout her expansive social circles is well-known for her endless kindness and approachable nature. A genuinely caring person who is well known for taking in waifs and strays, and therefore for the chaotic ramble of children that accompany her wherever she goes - some fostered, some adopted, some her own. Rosalind is outgoing and cheerful and loves meeting new people. She is generous with her provision of healing to anyone who needs it and is generally well-loved by her community. Rosalind tries hard to be non-judgemental but is repelled by needless cruelty and violence. She is a devout pacifist who is not generally drawn into political fights, preferring to offer her services to anyone who needs them, regardless of who they side with. She can be nervous and flighty, and is easily startled, though she strives to exude a calming presence. She adores singing, dancing and theater.
History
Rosalind is the eldest daughter of two travelling gypsies who are part of a fifty-strong gypsy troupe providing entertainment throughout Litharia. Consequently she spent her childhood on the move and performing. It was a carefree, exciting and loving childhood that Rosalind has fond memories for. However, although she danced and acted with the troupe until her late teens, she was more drawn to healing and divination than performance. She left the troupe to set out on her own as a young adult but retains a good relationship with her parents and sister, all of whom remain with the troupe. She visits them as frequently as she is able.
Rosalind learned the healing and divination arts from a mentor on the Shifter Island, remaining with him for several decades. He was also her lover and it was a devstating loss for her when he was killed in a major eruption of the island's active volcano. However this was also the impetus for her to begin sharing her knowledge and building her business as a healer; first in treating displaced Shifters in the Boil, and then on the road, trading her services for food and coin. After many years of this Rosalind was able to purchase her first home - also a store for her to sell her healing tinctures, give healing to those who visited, and dabble once more in divination. This shop, known as The Rose Apothecary, is located in Spirit and remains Rosalind's primary base.
Rosalind's role as a healer and diviner has come to define her more and more, and she has remained committed to these crafts for many years. Although she is generous with her skills, especially her healing - accepting anything that her customers can afford as payment - she has nonetheless amassed some wealth over the decades. She commissioned the building of a second home in the Tangle a few years ago; a base where she could escape the bustling city of Spirit when she needed to, and also a useful place to stay when collecting healing ingredients.
Rosalind took her second lover only recently, a fellow Mammalian Werebeast called Astal, however she remains unlucky in love as he has since disappeared without a trace. Not before he and Rosalind conceived their first child, although Astal was gone before the boy was born. Rosalind has also agreed to foster five Reptilian Shaman children at the request of the Daemoness Hadjara, and is raising them as her own alongside her own son.
