Akir the Viper's Teachings and Readings

The Doshaan have been a large cult in the Boil for centuries. A group four of sisters who were devout to the Litharian gods, prayed for support. Their families were dying, suffering from illnesses and famine as their oasis began to die. They prayed and prayed, but no god answered. Left with silence, the sisters could only watch as their families died off one by one from the harshness of the Boil. Their hearts were filled with hatred as they detested the Litharian gods, and so they shunned them as fake deities. Their hearts were set on never relying on the help of a god or goddess until an old shaman man, Ru’tuk, stumbled across their dying home.
All the sisters’ urged the man to leave, for he was destined to die at their cursed oasis. But he refused. Ru’tuk told the sisters he was sent by the gods to help. The sisters immediately shot him down and began to rant and rave about his lunacy, but he calmed them with his magic. Once they were quiet, he stated, “My dear sisters, I do not speak of thy Litharian gods, for thyne gods care little for mortals. Nay, these gods I speak of are real. They care for thy struggle, and heard thy prayers when no others would listen. “ The sisters did not buy it at first. They were very, very reluctant to trust anything god related after seeing so many people suffer. But they were desperate; How could they not at least try?

One sister replied to Ru’tuk, “Who are these gods? And what is the price for their help?” The old man chuckled and gladly dove into the story of his gods, the Tappenim as he called them, or Skyward Ones. The word itself sounded like gibberish to the curious sister, so she had to ask, “What is that word? Where does it come from?” And yet again, the old man happily told her. It was from the gods’ beautiful language, what was called the Dothraan, also called the Sacred Language of the Tappenim. The other sisters too became intrigued, but they wanted to see results before following a mad man’s beliefs so blindly. So Ru’tuk did the impossible; he saved the Oasis.
With a stomp of his foot, the Oasis sprang to life. Fruit bearing plant sprouted miles and miles across. Every dead plant was brought back to life, every fallen tree replaced with a new one. The river, lakes, and pounds cleared of the muck that made them poisonous, and were replaced with clean water filled with life such as plants and edible fish. This act was very impressive, but it still did not win the sisters over as their family and friends were still dying from illnesses.

Ru’tuk created a gentle storm whose raindrops cured any and all that were afflicted with illness. The sisters fell to their knees and cried with joy; their loved ones were save! They were saved! Ru’tuk had to have been a man of the gods he spoke off, for he did the impossible that no normal mortal could do. One of the more reluctant sisters kissed his feet and proclaimed, “I shall repay these gods by honoring them for my whole life. I devout myself to them upmost and fully. Dear Ru’tuk, how can we repay your gracious gods? How may we please them? We are forever in their service.” The other sisters followed her lead, and the man laughed.
“Rise sisters, for these gods do not always require thy be on thy knees or kneel. They can be quite gracious, but they do require some pay. To keep your home healthy, thy must sacrifice and create a river of blood to preserve this beauty. The gods be very blood thirsty for the unfaithful, especially to those that worship thine heathenous Litharian gods.” Before seeing his miracles, the sisters would have called him daft and sent him on his way for such treacherous requests. But they had dedicated their lives to his gods, and he was a speaker for them. They wished to please and preserve their sacred home, and so they agreed to his terms.

He taught the sisters, regardless of his age, how to fight and kill using the shadows. He helped them properly worship the gods and officially taught them how to speak Dothraan. They learned quickly and followed Ru’tuk’s instructions to buy many slaves and use them to build temples in the gods honor. The temples were not finished in the sisters’ life time, but this did not stop them from teaching others in the osasis. They too were eternally grateful for evading death, and so they too willingly fell into the worship of these gods. Ru’tuk called them the Doshaan, which translated to Death.
Though the sisters passed with old age, Ru’tuk remained until the temples were built and all the natives converted. Once that was done, he simply disappeared. Time continued, and the Doshaan cult grew less fanatic of their order, but continued to do their duty as thanks. Things changed; what was once a cult that accepted any and all, turned into a cult whom only accepted women and humans. Their home shrunk in size via population, but still many family lines stayed devoted. There were many a times that they struggled and almost lost their home, but an old man claiming to be Ru’tuk, would help them and remind them of their duty. The Doshaan have continued to thrive and flourish to the present day. Though no one has been able to prove their existence, there have always been whispers of their existence.
